With 2020 vision…all you see is vapes!

As we accept the fact that the novelty of a new year could be wearing off and attention to those all-important new years resolutions can quickly become a distant memory. Of course, we understand that the transition from smoking to vaping can happen at any time, on any day in any month, but with a new year being a fresh start for many, vaping equipment may be all you’re thinking about.

We started 2019 with the ultimate starters guide to vaping and a year on, we’re looking at what’s changed over time with the evolution of e-cigs and more importantly, what hasn’t.

Getting started with vaping … regardless of the year it is.

Today, like last year, many smokers are trading in traditional smoking for vaping, however, knowing where to start is a different ballgame. We’ll be the first to admit that the vast array of vaping equipment and products available can be confusing and even a little bit scary. We won’t lie, there are a lot of different types of vapes, devices, e-liquids and accessories around but we’re breaking down the evolution of products, how they’ve been adapted and how you’re absolutely right if you’re considering vaping at the moment. Why? We’ll tell you … innovation.

A short history

The first form of an electronic cigarette came in 1963, by a man called Herbert A. Gilbert. Before we carry on, let us take a moment for this absolute legend who started the motion of vaping as we know it today. The first form was a non-tobacco electronic cigarette but there was no product manufactured and then a 16-year wait followed. In 1979, a Dr Norman Jacobson invented a device that gave people a way to inhale nicotine without the smoke. Though this was deemed successful in making the word ‘vaping’ known and popular, the invention was pretty much ignored and didn’t take off. In the years that followed, there was no development or progression but there was a reason for this. The tobacco industry.

It’s not unknown that in the 60s and 70s, traditional cigarettes were considered the norm – so much so that even health effects were ignored. Pretty good for the tobacco and cigarette manufacturers, not so good for the vaping enthusiasts.

A great moment in time – if not the best.

At the turn of the century, there was a big shift in society with more focus on health, lifestyle and the body and mind. With this attention not dying off, naturally, the attention of governments also became this and therefore new regulations, packaging and taxes were now in motion. More smokers than ever were trying to quit and in 2003, a pharmacist called Hon Lik reinvented the electronic cigarette and following some investments, the manufacturing of the first modern e-cig began.

Now, you can pretty much get any vaping device for any type of vaper.

If you’re just starting off, then the best thing to ensure is safety and an easy to use vape. The best go-to vaping equipment for this is low regulated devices that consist of internal batteries and easy to replace coils.

If you’re a starter, keep in mind that there are two types of starter kits: ones with removable tanks and AIO (All in ones). We’ve made it even simpler for you by hand selecting a few to get you started.

An overnight hit

These e-cigs were an overnight hit and the surge in popularity helped to establish the vaping industry and soon, they found their way to different countries; a true global sensation.

From this point onwards, extensive and continuous research has been carried out into vaping equipment and the products associated with it. This brings us nicely onto the present day and if not, the most exciting times.

There are always different types of vapers, naturally. We’ve touched upon beginners, but what are the best devices for those who are not quite at the advanced level. If you’re sitting there reading this and you’re thinking to yourself this is me, then we think it’s safe to say that you are intermediate vaper. If you have a basic understanding of how vaping equipment works and more importantly, the maintenance, then you can explore a whole new range of greater vaping mods, tanks and oh so juicy e-liquids.

Mid powered regulated devices are always a good choice as these devices will deliver that all-important intense burst of e-liquid flavour and give you more vapour production. They will still maintain ease of use and safety but you’re dealing with devices that have resistance at or above .5 ohms. If this sounds a little complex, check out the range below to give you a better idea of what you’re dealing with.

Vaping equipment in today’s vaping world

When we say you’re in for a treat, believe us. The innovation we see when it comes to advances in vaping equipment is quite extraordinary. Some innovative vaping devices are only for the masters of rebuildables. However, there’s still some fun in it for those of you who are not so advanced.

We advise that you should only experiment with different vaping and rebuildable devices if you appreciate the knowledge of Ohms Law and Joules Law.

If you’re an intermediate vaper and you want to delve into the world of being an advanced vaper, you will have to decide if using rebuildable devices are for you and you will always have to keep in mind the risks associated with it. If you love being adventurous, you can have a play around with gadgets and explore further. We suggest a high powered regulated mod.

It all comes down to this – the right e-liquid for you

The heartbeat of any is the e-liquid … Well, it’s technically the battery but you know what we mean. E-liquid is the juice that is poured into the tank and inhaled. Sounds pretty simple and boring when we put it like that, right? WRONG. The e-liquid range that you can get your hands onto is truly breathtaking. From different PG and VG levels, nicotine strengths and flavours, you will literally never get bored from the selection on offer.

First things first, the flavour is the most aspect to consider. Even if all of the variables above are perfect, if you don’t like the flavour, chances are they’ll soon be in the back of your cupboard along with those cigarettes you want to quit. The possibilities are so endless with e-juice, we’ve even dedicated a whole article on choosing the right e-liquid. We appreciate that getting the hang of vaping equipment can be quite confusing, so give us a shout if you ever need a hand. To get you started, we’ve hand-selected a few favourite e-liquids from some top brands. Supergood, Just Juice and IVG have just dropped some new e-liquids, so naturally, we’re very excited about showing you them.

Test, investigate, trial, enquire, examine, research … I think that’s all the words we can think of when it comes to experimenting. The best thing about vaping is that you can make it your own. Choose different flavours and get a taste for what you like .. and what you don’t like. Start with 10ml e-liquid bottles and once you’ve found a guaranteed love (trust us, they’ll be a few) you can buy bigger bottles.
